I say &#8220;kind of&#8221; because one won joint second place, and the other won joint third place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, the one that won joint second place, &#8220;Into the Molten Sea&#8221;, was the one that I was less confident about, compared to the other one, &#8220;A Proof of Worth&#8221;. Nonetheless, I&#8217;m very happy with the result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can currently read the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfsa.org.za\/nova_report.html\">judge&#8217;s comments<\/a> on SFFSA&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>The year ahead<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, if you&#8217;ve had a look around here, you might have noticed that all the stories that I have published have been through SFFSA&#8217;s Nova competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s been a wonderful experience to sharpen my teeth, so to speak, on getting stories ready for the Nova competition, and the results and feedback I&#8217;ve gotten have played a significant role in convincing me to start taking bigger bites. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, I want to expand the reach of my stories, and just be more consistent with sending them out instead of endlessly revising or restarting them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ll be posting updates as things happen, and links to the two new stories will be up once they&#8217;re available for public viewing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s all for now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last year&#8217;s Nova The results of SFFSA&#8217;s 2019 Nova competition was recently announced, and I was stoked to see that both stories I submitted made the top three, kind of.
